Huskers To The Big 10…RIP Big 12

The Big 10, which has 11 teams, will add a 12th. Now the question is….will the Big “Ten” hold at 12 teams or push to 14?  Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany still has interest in Notre Dame and Rutgers.  Missouri is also appears to still be a possibility….however there is speculation that Delany may stop (for now) with Nebraska to avoid the perception that the Big Ten has caused college football Armageddon.

Regardless of the perception, the lines are already being drawn (and redrawn), and the shake ups have begun. There is no ink on paper for any of the deals (yet), but it now seems almost inevitable.  Texas officials have indicated that if Nebraska leaves, the Big 12 would dissolve, with Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado poised to join the Pac-10. The New York Times reported that top officials at Texas and Texas A&M will meet Thursday in a final effort to keep the league intact. Adding a school such as TCU would do just that.
