With the World Cup in South Africa rapidly approaching, many countries have some cause for concern as several of the worlds best footballers have fallen victim to injury. The first true star of the sport to be declared out of the World Cup is Ghana Midfielder Michael Essien. Listed as the number 10 player in the world by ESPN football power rankings, Essien suffered a knee injury that will unfortunately keep him off the pitch for the remainder of the summer.
He preferred the title “teacher” as opposed to “coach”, and he was with a doubt the greatest teacher the game of basketball has ever seen. Known as “The Wizard of Westwood”, John Wooden died on Friday at the age of 99, only 4 months shy of living on this earth for a full century.

Garrett is a great example of perseverance and dedication.

Strasburg in 45 minor league innings has struck out 54 and yielded only 22 hits and 10 walks. His ERA is a minuscule 0.99.
