LeBron James announced last night in his hour long special titled “The Decision”, that he will be taking his talents to South Beach to play with superstars Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat. James acknowledged the fact that the free agency period was an “emotional time” for him and that he changed his mind several times throughout the process. James was quoted as saying “When I woke up this morning I knew it was the right decision.” Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh were reportedly very happy with James decision and for good reason.
Are kids today pushed too much in sports? I hear that question tossed around at times, but not as much as I would hope it would be. I have a 12 year old son and a typical year in sports for him is as follows. Baseball for him starts with indoor practices twice a week February 1st until games start the third week of April. The season will end the second week of July after playing 45 games. He will continue to have one practice a week during the season on top of his games.
After one month and over sixty games, the 2010 FIFA World Cup will come to a close on Sunday in dramatic fashion when the Netherlands meet Spain for a chance at football immortality. Tiger Woods finished with a disappointing final round of 71 on Sunday at the AT&T National in Pennsylvania, leaving him at +4 for the tournament and 46th place overall. The tournament marked the first time in eleven years that Woods finished a PGA event without breaking par in a single round. The start of NBA free agency officially tipped off this morning at 12:01 AM and will likely be the talk of the sports world until LeBron James makes his decision. In recent weeks new rumors have consistently surfaced about where James and other notable free agents may end up. Possibly the most interesting of these rumors is that of LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade all playing together in Miami. All three are free agents and Miami has the cap space to sign three max salary players.
The United States was eliminated from the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Saturday after losing to Ghana 2-1 in extra time. The loss marks the second straight World Cup that Ghana has eliminated the U.S. with a 2-1 score-line.

The match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut lasted an unbelievable eleven hours and five minutes, shattering the previous record of six hours and thirty-three minutes. After three days (two delays due to darkness) John Isner was finally able to break the serve of Mahut and come out with a victory 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (3), 70-68 in a match that tested the patience of everyone involved.

The 110th U.S. Open was decided last night at Pebble Beach when Graeme McDowell walked off the 18th hole with a one-stroke victory over Gregory Havret. McDowell finished alone at even par for the tournament and did just enough for victory on a Sunday that took its toll on many of golfs best. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Ernie Els all had an opportunity to win on Sunday but struggled to find consistency and left in disappointment. Nobody may be as disappointed as young Dustin Johnson who held the lead after 54 holes.

FIFA's referee committee at the World Cup decided that the German referee (Stark) for the Argentina/Nigeria game should have disallowed the goal.
