If you do a little price shopping on baseball pitcher’s L-Screens, you will quickly find out that the Kodiak Sports Professional Padded L-Screen is not going to be the cheapest. Not only will you find it won’t be the cheapest, in fact it is going to be one of the more expensive screens on the market. In the case of the Kodiak L-Screen the old saying “You get what you pay for” definitely applies!

The Kodiak L-Screen features a 7.5’ x 7.5′ x 2” diameter bolt together powder coated steel frame, pillow case #60 netting, and never flat solid rubber tires for easy transport. The Kodiak Pro Model L-Screen also comes with a full padding set to protect the frame and net from impact. In simple terms this is a heavy duty L-Screen built to last. Standard L-Screens (in the $125 to $250 price range) come with 1.5 mm tubing, #36 netting, and does not typically have the wheels or the padding. The Kodiak L-Screen is built with high quality and built to last over an extended period of time and with extended heavy usage.

I will say there is a situation for each of the price ranges for L-Screens on the market. If you are a light user of the L-Screen, an example would be a 8-10 year old in a backyard cage, the low end ($125) screens will work just fine. However, if you are a high school, college, or batting cage facility, the higher end constructed L-Screens (such as the Kodiak) are a must. I have seen too many of the above- mentioned heavy users try to get away with cheaper L-Screens and they just don’t last. Additionally, they become dangerous when they start to wear down with holes in the netting or just becoming unstable.

When you start your shopping for your L-Screen ask yourself what type of user you will be. If it is just for your personal use in the backyard you most likely will be able to get away with a lower priced L-Screen, if you are a heavy user such as a facility or some type of baseball program, the higher end L-Screens are the logical choice for you.
